Severn Vale Art Trail

For the eighth year running, a group of local artists, supported by Castle School Octagon Visual Arts Centre, and use of the facilities at The Hatch Camphill Community, Thornbury and District Museum, Thornbury Pound Cottage Gallery, TomatoJack Arts, The Hub Celebration Fairs and Thornbury Town Council have come together under the umbrella of Thornbury Arts Festival to take part in the Severn Vale Art Trail. The trail presents a wealth of talent including paintings in oil, watercolour and pastel, ceramics and sculpture, prints and drawings, photography, jewellery, textiles, stained glass and woodturning. From May 4th to May 12th the public are invited to visit the artists in their own studios, or shared exhibition space, to talk about and appreciate the works on display and hopefully to make one or two purchases of work that catches the eye. The exact location and times when the studios will be open can be found by downloading the Guide or picking up a printed copy of the Art Trail Guide from Thornbury Town Hall or Thornbury Library.

For information about joining the Severn Vale Artists in the next Art Trail please call Jane Parfitt on 01454 6135811.

Visiting procedures for members of the public

The opening times of each exhibition is given in the official guide, members of the public are very welcome to visit at these times. Plan your route in advance and be sure to visit individual artists in their own surroundings as well as those in shared venues. Look for the red Art Trail signs as you near your destination and remember to check official notices giving parking restrictions and time limits. Please remember that you may be visiting an artist at home, so please be very careful about leaving footmarks. You should not expect to be able to smoke, or use a phone or lavatory, or wander wherever you please. For your own safety, you are also obliged to follow all the rules and instructions that your host may have put in place.

Please note that members of the public visit the Art Trail at their own risk. The organisers cannot be held liable for any loss, damage or injury sustained by any member of the public visiting an Art Trail venue.

Whilst every care has been taken in compiling this guide, Severn Vale Art Trail cannot be held responsible for any errors, variations or omissions.

Exhibition by Eduardo Paolozzi

General Dynamic F.U.N.

A Hayward Touring Exhibition

April 29th - 24th May, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Sir Eduardo Paolozzi was one of the pioneers of the pop art movement in the UK. Paolozzi's canny alchemy is vividly apparent in General Dynamic F.U.N, a series of fifty screen-prints and photo-lithographs created between 1965 and 1970.

Here Paolozzi employs the technologies of mass-reproduction and gorges on its idols - the household names and familiar faces of consumer advertising, high fashion and Hollywood.

The exhibition is open to the public between 9am and 5pm at The Castle School, Park Road, Thornbury, BS35 1HT.
