Community Arts The Festival encourages the community to be active in the Arts; activities include the annual Eisteddfod; workshops from designers and local artists and school visits from the Children's author Kevin Price, supported by Liberty. The Festival includes bands, soloists and performance from local school and Eisteddfod performers, concerts for the elderly in their own residential accommodation from 5 Alive and exhibitions of work by local artists in their own studios and in shops and cafes around the town.

The 2013 Festival opens on Friday 19th April with celebrated comedian Arthur Smith getting the festival off to a rousing start. On Saturday April 20th we welcome the renowned National Youth Jazz Orchestra who recently played to a sold-out house at Ronnie Scott's. On Sunday April 21st the 1910 Chainmakers' Strike is interpreted theatrically in Rouse Ye Women! with afternon tea as an added bonus.

The festival box office is now open in Thornbury Town Hall. Tickets are selling well, book now to avoid disappointment.

There is now one ticket available for the walk around Wotton, call the Town Hall (01454 412103) to check it out.

On Monday 22nd, Bernard Merrick illustrates the Glories of Venice at lunchtime and in the evening Stephen Venables tells the story of the dramatic new route without supplementary oxygen in Everest Jubilee. On Tuesday Meg Wise revisits the route and features of The Thornbury Railway and in the evening the 1940 Film version of Pride and Prejudice starring Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier will be screened 200 years after Jane Austen finished the novel. On Wednesday John Barnes and Matt Adams present An Apple Story with cider tasting samples and the Bristol Harmony Quire present the choral singing style prior to Harmonium and Organ accompaniment. Weston Pier Senior Engineer Robert Tinker tells the story of the British Seaside Piers on Thursday lunchtime and in the evening the traditional style of Brazilian Choro is presented in a café setting by Brejeiro! The Harbour Winds Quintet present a lunchtime concert on Friday and formidable BBC Woman's Hour presenter Dame Jenni Murray tells the story of her career and interests. On Saturday The Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy reads from her work accompanied by musician John Sampson. Finally on Sunday, Walk around Wotton explores the town's history, tales and architecture, finishing with tea and delicious cake at the Chipping Club Room.
