Early in 2008, in consultation
with club members, the Film Selection committeee will produce
a shortlist of films for consideration for the members' choice
for the final film of the season.
The films will mainly be selected from the British Federation
of Film Societies (BFFS) block booking list of films which
have received high marks in the panel viewing sessions held
under the auspices of the BFFS.
Voting slips with synopses
of all the shortlisted films will be distributed to members
and, subject to availability, the the film which receives
the most votes will be booked for screening on May 23rd.
There may be some classic
films from the 40's and 50's in the shortlist, even a western
or two, certainly some foreign language films and perhaps
one or two new films just coming out in DVD format. If you
know of a good challenging film in the BFFS list that you
would like to see in Thornbury then please let one of the
committee members know during the first half of the season
and we will add it to the list for consideration
At Thornbury Picture House
we hope to encourage a warm and friendly atmosphere. We hope
that members will be able to stay for a little while for a
chat about the film thay have just seen and to discuss their
own nominations for members' choice and also let the committee
know the genres and titles that you would like to see in the
programme in the future.
