Arts Festival Week - May 5th -May 14th

Thornbury's own local radio station Thornbury FM will be on air again on FM 87.7 from 1st to 28 May and will be featuring a number of performers appearing in the Festival. Current plans (to be confirmed) include broadcasts of interviews, recordings and news items as follows:

Claire Martin of Girl Talk with Chris Connery
Members of Fine Arts Brass and
Brendon Wheatley of Opera Box with Sue Hazlehurst

Music of the Spheres
The Eisteddfod Celebration Concert
and ngm's Sunday Rock Concert.

Festival Broadcast News
Every morning at 10 am during the Festival period Barbara Ray or John Smith will appear on the Chris Connery show to give Festival updates and reviews and, in a special Festival hour programme on May 1st, Barbara and John will be previewing the Festival and bringing all the latest news.

All the above broadcasts are subject to confirmation and the final programming details will be available nearer the transmission dates.

Festival Events Guide and Open Studios Trail

The glossy Festival Events Guide is now available, it has been widely distributed to shops, business premises, pubs, hotels and libraries; copies are still available at Thornbury Town Hall and Thornbury Library. A copy of the Open Studios leaflet is included with the Festival guide.

Thornbury Picture House

A fold out leaflet of the programme of films to be shown in the winter of 2006/7 is available from Thornbury Library. Membership details are now available. Click Films for the programme and an application form.

Arts Festival Week - May 5th -May 14th

2006 South Glos. Arts Trail

20 local artists from Olveston to Berkeley, have joined the Severn Vale Open Studios scheme which replaces the exhibitions formerly held in the Town Hall. A glossy leaflet will soon be available. In the meantime, the festival website contains all the details so you can start planning your visits now.

Thornbury Arts Club will be holding a members' exhibition entitled "Serendipity" at Wyevale Garden Centre off the A38 near Thornbury.

The abridged Festival programme has been distributed with the April Thornbury Magazine, the glossy Festival Events Guide is in preparation and will soon be available.

The Main Festival Programme has now been completed, click Highlights

An exciting new "open studios" scheme will be introduced this year whereby visitors will be able to visit artists in their own studios. This replaces the exhibitions formerly held in the Town Hall. Click Open studios.

In addition, it is hoped that Thornbury Arts Club will be holding an exhibition of members' work at Wyevale Garden Centre Buckover during the Festival period. Full details to be confirmed later.

The glossy Festival Events Guide is in preparation and it is hoped that it will be available in early April.

There is one more free film to be shown in the series of trial screenings. A decision will be made in the next few weeks whether there has been sufficient support for a regular film club in the town.

The Festival Autumn Programme has now been completed and the plans for next year's Festival are taking shape.

For young people:

Thursday 26 January 2006 2 performances in the Armstrong Hall at 9.30 am and 1.45 pm

The story of Isambard Kingdom Brunel will be performed by Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in a year of celebration for the work of the remarkable Victorian engineer.

Bookings can only be accepted through the Primary Schools.

The BOV Theatre School has put on a number of productions over recent years for Thornbury schoolchildren, without exception they have been acclaimed by the young audiences and teachers alike.
